Store Prices

Postby OXCART.NP » Sat Mar 06, 2010 10:12 am

I've noticed, as well as lots of others I'm sure, that store prices are pretty high for Scout class players.

With the flag running they have to spend their money on several items in order to effectively run flags (buying speed potions, health packs, stimpacks) and over time it just runs them dry of their money

Scout classes rely on their specials and speed in order to do anything, but if they can't hardly use them what's the point of using a scout class?

I'm not requesting CBS to fix this, I'm just pointing it out so that IF they were to fix something this is something they could consider.

Thank you for your time.

up to 6 small potions and 6 large potions and 2 of each size of med pack... I figured it once its over $1000 and if I get back to base and our flag is gone holding takes up a lot more money

It's not compulsory you run the flag...

yes but it doesn't benefit the team to let lvl 1's run flags either which is usually what the rest of the team is comprised of. I mean, personally i always go on the losing side which is normally new players so that if they have any questions i can help them and then try to score for them so their more interested in the game, because no one is going to want to play a game they can't win. so i usually have them guard base while i run flags so they feel like they're helping and then they still win a little.

plus if someone else drops the flag it's not like you're going to leave it there. even just picking it up at your base after someone else dropped it can still wear you down a lot money wise. no matter what way you think about it, it's a problem.

I have never had money problems with either my running scout or my killing scout. Sounds like people need to learn how to balance their play.

nEx.Software, that's exactly what I'm saying and OXCART, I understand where you are coming from and I admire that you actually help newcomers out. I remember when I joined newly and it was a whole bunch of jerks who would just laugh and call me noob when I asked for controls help or what I was supposed to do. I think this is where the devs failed. Some kind of tutorial will be nice. If I wasn't patient enough or challenged, I would have immediately uninstalled that game from my phone. So some kind of tutorials should be implemented.

That being said, I still don't think prices should necessarily be dropped. The prices are part of the challenge, IMO. In a sick, twisted way. Project INF teaches a little something in Economics called "Opportunity Cost". lol. It's all about prioritizing what you have to do and should do with the little money or time that you have. Running the flag is not the only option one has...

I so agree with this.

All you quick switchers would have endless supplies of everything, if it was all cheaper! Games would drag on longer and poor trinket guys like me would die a million time returning flag(I only die 1000 times now)!

Eh... I think store prices are based on your stat expectations.

You can probably play a scout; buy a boo-boo load of stims and trinkets, and then use your given abilities to your advantage. Savoring every flag capture dollar for a later date to spend like crazy in the store will only hurt your stats.

I'm constantly broke, but that is due to the following reasons:

1. I care about my stats, so I purchase items in full quantity. I do enough killing to help my team (flag holders) and do less dying as a result.
2. I care about fair play, so 70% of the time I'm on the losing team because I'm playing against stackers or I'm playing with lower levels. Thus using more resources to stay alive.
3. I'm a level 50 brute. Scouts, marines and other brutes challenge me on a daily basis. I've been pursued round after round in CTF matches as if we were playing PVP. This causes for the use of more items.

Am I excusing the price for items in the store? No... but I damn sure understand why I'm broke. If I just let go and say screw my stats; I'm here to help my team win only (live or die), then I would save thousands of dollars.

The good news to all of this... I just saved hundreds of dollars by switching to Geico! "Does Charlie Daniels play a mean fiddle?"
